BIG LIFT IN CATTLE PRICES AT KILMALLOCK MART
550 cattle were sold at Kilmallock Mart this week. Cattle of all types were much improved this week. Bullocks less than 550kgs sold for up to €1990 a head or €3.9 per kg. Heavy Bullocks made up to €2880 each or €3.38 per kg. Dry Cows sold for up to €2410 ech or €3.41 per kg. Heifers less than 500kgs made up to €1740 a head or €4.50 per kg. Heavier heifers hit €2550 each or €4.05 per kg. Heavy Bulls sold for up to €3000 each. Runners sold for for up to €930 each. Young calves sold for up to €510 each. On Tuesday last weaning bulls sold for up to €2430 a head or €5.62 per kg. Weanling Heifers made up to €2500 each or €6.10 per kg. Champion David Murphy’s LMX Weanling bull. Strong Trade at Saturday’s Special Weanling Show & Sale
Our special weanling show and sale on Saturday saw a large entry of top-quality weanling bulls and heifers, along with a strong entry of runners and top-end in-calf suckler heifers.
There was excellent demand throughout the sale, with weanling heifers topping at an impressive €5,350, while many more lots comfortably passed the €2,000 mark. Weanling bulls were also in strong demand, with prices reaching €7 per kg.
Runners met with a very strong trade, making up to €1,450, with leading buyers, farmers and exporters all active for quality lots. The suckler trade was equally strong, with in-calf suckler heifers making up to €3,600.
There was strong demand for all classes of stock both ringside and online, with purchasing customers travelling from Kerry right up to Donegal, highlighting the quality of stock on offer at the mart.
