ASSISTANT MART MANAGER POSITION

We are seeking to recruit a commercially focused assistant mart manager for Kilmallock mart, one of Ireland’s leading livestock centres. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the successful candidate will jointly oversee all aspects of operations of Kilmallock mart. In addition, the successful candidate will also be responsible for the development of two additional seasonal marts.

A key goal will be to drive business growth through effective marketing, online promotion, building customer relationships and ensuring strong competition for livestock.

The person will be responsible for building and maintaining strong and effective relationships with all stakeholders, committee members and customers, while managing a team of full time and part time employees.

Duties to include

  • Driving business growth through effective marketing, online promotion, building customer relationships and ensuring strong competition for livestock.
  • Hands on communication with both seller and buyer.
  • Responsible for managing and directing employees and ensuring all training and development needs are adhered to.
  • Management of all credit related issues.
  • Compliance with Health and Safety obligations.
  • Compiling reports on business performance.

Candidate profile

  • Strong communication, problem solving and leadership skills, and be able to demonstrate the ability to manage a team.
  • An excellent understanding of the livestock or agricultural industry.
  • Hands on management experience working within the livestock/agricultural industry is desirable, but not essential.
  • Flexible and adaptable and ability to work in every area of the Mart.
  • Strong customer focus with a commitment to delivering a top-class service.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent delegation skills with the ability to effectively lead and manage a team.
  • Proven ability to work on own initiative.
  • Good computer skills.
